Heyo, this'll be one of my first posts on the forums.
I'm a really avid lover of tabletop games! There's this tavern in our city where you pay to enter and you can stay there all day and play boardgames with people. Very cool. Probably one of my most favourite ones though have to be Munchkin, Bang! And Dominion. I've also taken a liking to longer games like Terra Mystica.
What kind of tabletop games do you guys fancy?
Oh hey! Your name is of someone I know, they run the Klonoa Mega Chat!
:^)
most of my friends prefer to play games with agency so I end up playing those a lot. Battlestar Galactica, Secret Hitler, Bang...my lie radar is poor and my ability to lie is perhaps even worse so I don't get much enjoyment out of them.
For me I prefer games that allow for mixing things up without inflicting enormous penalties. Deckbuilding games and Roleplaying are more of my fancy. I like Legendary Encounters: Alien edition, and I really enjoy being the moderator for Ultimate Werewolf because I get to spontaneously generate outrageous stories and throw in red-herrings to give players something to accuse each-other over; I find it more fun to watch and listen rather than try to see through people's poker-faces.
I really enjoy persistent games like Shadowrun and DnD. I honestly haven't really played many games DnD games but I'm the GM for a Shadowrun group and I get a kick out of roleplaying against the table. Some games I roleplay a bunch of drug addicts and moments later I get to play as an over the top animal rights activist. I do miss being one of the player characters but I'm learning to add in npcs that I can play to help the table every now and again when they are weak in an area such as melee combat or magic
Ashens did a whole video on table top games from the 80s. btw welcome to the forums of the klonoas

Hmm... a familiar face.. where have I seen it before? o3o
But anyways, I haven't really played much table-top games recently, and I've always wanted to play something like Dungeons and Dragons ;3;
There are a lot of tabletop games. Way too many. I know a few of them, but in the end, there are only some recomendations about what did I enjoyed playing, and it implied also that I had the correct people to play, the ones who wanted to learn the rules and didn't interrupt the game for asking questions already answered in the rules.
With that said, Mysterium is one that I enjoyed a lot, but it's one that it may be hard to understand at first, but once you learn how it works, it's very fun.
Jungle Speed is something more apropiate if you want to play a shorter game and if you want something that requires a quick reaction.
If you want a dice game... Well, I want to try Luchador!, but I find it really expensive considering it's just a dice game. Also, there are not that many dice games that I find interesting.
When it comes to board James... Well, not going to mention the classic board games. You can check Formula D.
In the end, recommending tabletop games is hard, but I think these might be interesting to check. Maybe you will fall in love with one of these.
Too bad the only table-top game I fondly remember playing, is Monopoly. Yeah, a normie I am :embarassed:
I do remember playing Risk, but I was so confused on how the game plays, that I stopped playing it :v

Well Board games are a subclass of Tabletop games. A game like monopoly is a board game but it also a tabletop game, while, for example, Bang! is a tabletop game but not really a board game since there's no board you use to play it with.
ahh ok
Also, something I forgot, there are a lot of tabletop games on Kickstarter, if you find one that you're interested, you cna always remember the name of the game and keep track of the progress of the game, release date, etc.
There are a lot of tabletop games, and I'm interested to try Sushi Go to see if it's good. Having someone you know that has a game you don't played and want to give it a go is always a great option to test them.
played two new boardgames last night.
Expedition (https://www.amazon.com/Expedition-The-Roleplaying-Card-Game/dp/B01MSPKLVR) was okay. It plays like a Pick Your Own Adventure through a cell-phone app. Everyone picks a character and selects cards randomly from their respective ability deck. As players go through the story they vote on what to do. When they enter combat a timer starts and the players pick the spell they want as fast as they can; the longer the players take to choose the more damage the enemies deal. Roll D20 for successes.
The game was somewhat fun but communication was near impossible as everyone spoke out of turn and nobody knew what the other players were casting during the cast phase on the timer. Some round everyone cast buffs and nobody used a damage spell... In the end there were only 3 missions available and they were all really really short...they have a writing contest so I guess they are hoping the community builds the game...
Castle Magic (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/1738/castle-magic) is interesting but it can be a real slog. Everyone is given a random character card that is hidden to the other players. Each character has motives to earn points by owning the castle Crown, Scepter, or Amulet. There are allies but players need to deduce who is who. Eventually the players need to peform the desired ritual by moving an On/Off track for a Candle, Book, and Bell. The correct combination designates how the game ended and points are earned if your character benefits from that ending. If anyone plays it I suggest starting with all spell ratings at 3...it takes a long time for anything to happen otherwise.
I played today Monopoly Gamer.
I expected a 4-player Mario-themed-but-still-a-vanilla version of Monopoly. I'm surprised. It has a weak Mario Party feel, since one of the dice basically makes the coins keeps moving from player to player to the bank and dropped to the board and it ends very quick, since bankrupt doesn't exist in this one and making the points that are awarded with every boss defeated, every property owned and every 5 coins. It can have a surprise winner. Except if one player just gets every property.
Also, Sushi Go is a quick game, but it's one that asks for the right people. The cards have "Kawaii" arts and have a touch that I just love. But if someone justs doesn't get the rules (and aren't one of the easiest to learn) the game will just grind everyone's gears, no questions asked.
And just to end, a Captain Tsubasa board game. (http://ramenparados.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Captain_Tsubasa_1983_banner.jpg) But this one is from the spanish localization (http://www.dibujos-animados.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/serie-oliver-benji-campeones.jpg) and it looks like Bloodbowl. I still have to test this game. Once I test it I will post my impressions, and I will confirm if it's a kids of Bloodbowl.
EDIT: it is Bloodbowl. At least the cheap option, and not a good one, since being limited to move 11 cetween all spaces instead of as much as all your players allow you to move just doesn't work that well, and when tackling another players, winning with a wide margin will trigger a fault, and the larger the difference, chances of getting a yellow card or a red card become bigger. This one penalizes you for getting bigger die rolls and using better players against worse players.
who here remembers the u build board games?
