I'm proud to admit that I voted for Duck Hunt epwhen I made this poll, before the games even came out stateside. And I'll also admit surprise at...the lack of votes for Lucario, Shulk, and Captain Falcon (whom I also voted for).

Seems Kirby is in the lead so far- not surprising, considering the super-tough creampuff in question.

Why am I saying this...
Breaking news guys!
Recently, an unused Palutena's guidance file was found within the game's code.

When I saw that there was a 4chan thread showing the file, do you know what someone just so happened to post?

Yep.

Okay, I'll admit that Hoopa Unbound pic got a chuckle out of me.

You know, speaking of on-disc content, there were also some unused tracks on-disc, namely Tournament-mode related tracks, a Mario Paint medley, a Wii Shop/Mii Channle remix, the NintendoLand medley from the 50-Facts Extravaganza, and the music from the Tomodachi Life/Find Mii stages on the 3DS. They're presumable gonna be used for the Miiverse Stage, and the new Tournament mode.

...I kinda don't get why Tournament mode is online only now, unless I misread something somewhere. I mean, admit it, as tedious as it was, pitting up to 64 CPUs in a fight to the death was incredibly fun.

The game definitely feels a lot more fluid and fast than Brawl was and the replament of edgeguarding so you actually have jump off the stage and make a risky play if you want to secure the kill give it a little something over melee (Still unsure if it'll surpass melee we'll just have to wait and see how the meta evolves). Yoshi, Ness and Bowser Jr are my bros but Duck Hunt is a pretty fun champ too.

I hope they reconsider their stance of no more balance patches as Diddy Kong is terrifying right now, not as bad as Brawl Meta Knight/Pre Nerf Bowser but still a nightmare.

"Surpass melee"

Ugh, You know, I play all the Smash Bros. because they're fun games to play with my friends and all for FUN. Melee isn't all that great as everyone makes it out to be, it's just another iteration of the game. And don't get me started on all the clones that are in it. While Brawl did have some issues, I did enjoy it just as much as I enjoyed the other Smash Bros. games.

I have to say Tourney freaks sort of ruin the experience for me, draining the fun out of it and concentrating on tiers and stats. That's not fun, that's regulation. Smash Bros games were designed to be chaotic, random, and fun.

Melee was a technical marvel that was very deep yet very simple to play.  It's still alive in the competitive scene today because of that. Neither Smash 4 nor Brawl are as deep as Melee, so when people compare later games to Melee, it's purely on a competitive level. When it comes to just playing casually, they're all good.

This is late as hell but i have been really busy recently so I haven't even had time to use the computer until now.

I might as well say that Melee is tied with Mother 3 for my favourite game ever and that's not even because of the wavedash/l-cancel mechanics (Which me and everyone I have ever played with never even knew existed until after Brawl's release which at that point everyone was used to brawl instead). But Melee was religiously played by us from right at the start of melee's release until brawl's while brawl only lasted 2 years, even ignoring the unintentional mechanics of melee it still was faster and as such had more intense matches, I still am satisfied with Brawl but Melee is definitely a smoother feeling game. Smash 4 captures pretty much the sorta style that my old melee matches used to have while keeping the floatier aerial game of brawl (Which isn't better or worse, just different) while  having it's own flavour and new characters which allow different playstyles than usual.

Basically i'm not a tourney person (Although I have been looking up videos of competitive fights to learn new characters) but in terms of the smash matches I have been playing for around 15 years now it has always been played as a fighting game rather than a party game. The beauty of Smash is that it IS both a great party game and a great fighting game and as such I think that saying that it should only be played in one manner is to destroy what makes smash smash.

Anyway I'm pretty hyped that Project M is coming out for PAL Brawl soon/soonish. I do miss Lucas and I have a mate that plays a lot of standard fighters like Mortal Kombat/Soul Calibur/Guilty Gear but has been somewhat averse to the idea of playing smash so maybe the idea of a smash game designed specifically to be a comp fighter will win him over and then we can do some matches.

I'm enjoying the Wii U version of the game so far. Still maining Wario like in the 3DS version, because he's fun to play as even if his representation is terrible.

However, I will say that Pac-Land is...terrible. Depressingly, it's an accurate representation of the source material. Which isn't that well known, so not even nostalgia defends its MS Paint-like aesthetics. I have nothing to complain about for the other stages, however. Just wish they used the Pac-Maze from the 3DS version instead, since it's much more iconic with Pac-Man.
