That is true. It might be part of a slightly tweaked design. But it's up in the air for now. (No pun intended)

Okay, to be honest, I was actually fooled for a maximum of 5 minutes. Here's why. Sure, it's almost the same model as the Wiimake, but what bugs me is one little detail: The Lighting.

First, take a look this:

The first image is a "leaked" image of Falco from the Starfox series. At first sight, it looks convincing, the lighting, the detail, the works. The leak was however proven fake because the image was posted before Little Mac was announced.

How did the image being posted before Little Mac was announced prove the leak fake?

I think I know why. There was a similair image from the site that had Falco's icon, and it was claimed that it was abrubtly taken down. However, the image may have been proven false because Little Mac had been recently confirmed, yet he wasn't in the picture that had Falco. I dunno, I'm kinda iffy with the details.

Maybe YDKWIA can clarify?

In retrospect, the image is quite hard to debunk, that is if, the two images were by the same guy. if both the ingame and website images are by the same guy, this is fake, hands down, but if the in-game shot was by someone different then it's still up in the air actually.

For anyone interested, I took a screenshot of what the Klonoa model looks like in Garry's Mod. I'm not going to argue one side or the other, so if you need any other screenshots for comparisons and what not, feel free to ask.

I found a Smash Bros Wiki that tells about the rumors. Apparently, the image leaked befor the Little Mac announcement was confirmed fake because more recently confirmed characters at the time appeared toward the left. The screenshot was confirmed fake because Falco's missing the headgear he had in Melee and Brawl and his left leg is misplaced.

That screen shot is definitely a Brawl hack.  A few years ago there was a project to make Klonoa a playable character.  They made enough progress that he was mostly functional, but there were some major issues and I don't believe there wasn't a way to work around them at the time.  So, the team moved on and the project died.  More recently though, one person provided models imported from the wiimake as an alternative for the custom model (I think it was custom) that was made for the project.  Also, Wiley's Castle has been available as a custom stage for months.

I know we've already come to the conclusion that the Falco pic is fake, but it's worth mentioning that it's Brawl too.  Rim-lighting is one of the Vault's current fads because of the hype train and literally everyone is doing it.  Basically anything that's been announced for SSB4 is available as a hack.  Seriously, if there's a rumour they're working on it.  They had Palutena available the day she was announced.

Yea.... Brawl hackers do kinda suck because of that. I mean Megaman fine (at the time final smash Nintendo revealed at the tournament was not announced on moveset release) but the others... :very_angry: WTF MAN WHY WOULD THEY DO SH*T LIKE THAT I MEAN ARE BRAWLERS THAT F*CKIN CHEAP JUST TO PLAY ALL THE ANNOUNCED CHARACTERS THAT ARE TO BE IN THE NEW BRAWL... :very_angry:
I am me.... I do things differently from others.... I may see things in a way others don't.... I might be strange to others eyes... but to myself I am a normal person....

Or, you know, they could have green screened the model, gave it hunks of lighting, and put it in a Wily Castle Screenshot, explaining the close up of the shot.

Oh, really? That's extremely sad to hear...even though it looked kinda meh from the videos. I mean, it was just Lucas, but with Klonoa's model. The only parts that were decidedly new-ish were Klonoa's up-b, which was his double-jump, but with his "Wahoo!", and he used a Mr. Saturn...and I think his Side-special was a sword slash. Whatever.

And it's fully understandable that people would put these characters in Brawl. I mean, if Klonoa was announced in Smash 4, would you NOT be exited for him, to the point of putting him in Brawl? Retroactively, if say, Lucas wasn't in Smash 4, wouldn't you want to mod that game to put him in it, much like what Project M has been doing for Roy and Mewtwo? Really, it's mostly that Brawl and Smash 4 will play with COMPLETELY different physics- so the fact that they've been retroactively been put in doesn't mean anything, when we don't even know how they'd play in a competitive setting...and I don't think that Smash invitational thing counts towards that, because no one had the chance to get to know all the little quirks in each character's moveset's, like they would if they had the game at home.

Also, is nobody else gonna mention that Palutena leak from a while back? Because, it turns out it was confirmed fake the instant Palutena was revealed. How's THAT for irony?
