Despite what my embarrassing-tween-self might try to tell you, Leorina is way better than Guntz. Leo's a rad pirate who literally turns into a giant monster, what does Guntz do? He gets sick on boats and yells at cats. What a jerk :P

Leornia's cool and all, but Guntz just seems, I dunno...cooler? More iconic? He's certainly more developed as a character in Klonoa Heroes, though Leorina does get more development in Klonoa 2 than Guntz gets in Klonoa Dream Champ Tournament, though, so his development is more gradual,mbut encompassing, one might say?

I would say Leorina because Leornia is more fitting to be Klonoa's rival than Guntz does,i mean if you actually played Klonoa 2 and cleared it of course you'll know the drill.
