Nope, they're actual limbs that they can move around and control. Squids have 10 limbs, and Nintendo released an official pic showing that Inklings have 10 limbs too. If he cut it off he would be in allot of pain, since he basically just lost 2 limbs. And he wouldn't be able to move much in squid form, cause the hair limbs of inklings are the long limbs in their squid form that push them forward. Neat huh
