How do Klonoa's clothes work?

so, I've noticed that klonoa's pants go way up high in klonoa 2 LV, like you can't really see his belly or chest, and when you look at his shirt it's rather short,

his pants more or less look like they go up to his shoulders (left)
or they could be bellybutton height (right)

i keep looking at his clothes in confusion, am i the only one?

If you look at a lot of the fan art on Pixiv, a lot of people are convinced it's a jumpsuit rather than pants

Most cosplayers just use pants, though.

Ghalidus (Gali +Ghadius)

maybe he loves pants that much considering DTP.
Do or don't; there's no try.

I noticed this when I was modding my SuperSmashBrawl game to include the unfinished Klonoa mod. I would suspect the character model is made without a long spine to reduce animation costs. The cloths actually function as a distraction so you don't notice that the Klonoa model does not have a spine; the brain just assumes Klonoa has a spine and fills in the gaps during movement.

Imagine if Klonoa did have a longer torso that never moved...it would be like watching someone snowboard with a steel rod in their back which is not appealing on a video game. Look at the Klonoa model from LV; the hip movement practically hides his stiff movements.

Klonoa's cloths work as a distraction away from animation costs.

Yeah confuted pretty much said it. Klonoa has no torso or upper legs.
sometimes his arms aren't fully attached either like in the LV and summer outfit models on the wii Klonoa xD

QuoteKlonoa has no torso or upper legs.
Klonoa's torso being a shapeless void makes sense against things like what's under Rosalina/Peach/Zelda's dress in Smash ... and foils certain artists including the aforementioned.

I can tell who that is just from the art xD. But I know them by 3 names (Kokeshi) (pilz_moos) (Lapin lunaire)

And ... now I'm reading their Twitter.

I'll just pick a name and stick with it.  ;D

There's a bit of evidence to support the jumpsuit theory. If you look closely at his cut-in in Namco X Capcom, you can see a bit of dark-blue, the same shading used on his "pants" by the way, under his shirt.
