The best setup to speedrun DtP is to play the Namcollection version of the game on a PS2, so yea that is intentional.
Namcollection is a Japanese exclusive game cartridge containing its own version of DtP along with 6 other Namco games.

Its speedrunning differences when compared to any other versions of DtP makes it the best version to run on. Namely, better loading times, and one specific skip made a bit easier.

Managed to catch the run happening when the runner was still on Vision 4-1. Hadn't watched many Klonoa speed runs so the techniques kinda blew my mind. Final time was 00:44:26.
