(Sorry, couldn't resist) but yeah, It was probably because it was a new release, nothing more. That isn't to say klonoa being in Smash is impossible- just near-impossible. Like, he has a better shot than, say, Goku. or Shadow, maybe. And like you said, there's a lot of people who love and support Klonoa...there were so many Miiverse pictures asking for Klonoa in Smash, it was crazy. Heck, it's not just Miiverse- anytime someone put up a poll, or asked people's opinions on which Namco character should be in Smash, it seemed like Klonoa was one of the most wanted, usually second only to Lloyd Irving.

Also relevant: the extent to which some people want Klonoa in Smash-

I was debating whether or not to post this here...but, what the hey! It's still kinda relevant.

1. Add Klonoa to Steam

2. Add Klonoa's hat as an item for the scout in TF2 (with the purchase of the game of course)

3. When equipped, the scout will sometimes "Wahoo!" when he double jumps

I'm surprised they didn't do that when Sonic Generations came out.

Dust became pretty successful on Steam, makes me wonder how Klonoa would do with a DtP re-release. I once sent an e-mail asking Namco wether Klonoa would ever be considered on Steam.
I got the obvious answer ofc, no plans whatsoever.  Then again Namco never really did many PC releases, did they? I remember Pac Man World 2... but nothing recent.
