Let's solve every problems in assembly level, YAY! (I guess it's the only way out)
Hmm, I think I need to eat my own words. Assembly isn't really hard at all.
It can be abstract, but you should overcome problems by just spending time to inspect them. Mother3 fan translation team had done a similar project before, it's therefore possible for us to translate Klonoa Heroes as well.
So...Has anybody ever taken ARM assembly lessons in your schools? Well, I had only learned some C/C++ and BASIC before...

Here's a do***ent for anyone who is willing to learn more about assembly : http://www.coranac.com/tonc/text/asm.htm
And don't be afarid of that technical info I found - There are also infos of DS in it!

EDIT: Seems my posts are haunted by censorship, LOL.

Hmm, you know, maybe I'll take the time to learn Assembly. It'll be good for me anyway. It's a good low-level language that will benefit me later on.

It seems that no one is really good at Assembly here. Well, that doesn't matter at all.

@Darai I am trying to learn ARM assembly by myself now, especially things related to GBA hacking. I think I might be able to assist you with the work until there's another more skillful person appeared.

Sounds good to me.

Sorry if I haven't been making any new ground with the translation patch right now, but learning another language and learning more about translation hacks, well, you're not going to be able to much progress without knowing more about it.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, sooo sorry for poofing like that. When I made my last post, I was only like two visions in and hadn't seen much. (I felt like I embarrassed myself with that, and I get super aloof whenever I feel like I've messed up, which is one of my worst habits I haven't been able to shake.) But I've played through the whole game now, so, yeah, not totally ignorant. Wahoo~

So yeah, was totally avoiding coming on here aaand started transcribing some stuff as I was playing the game and put it in a Google Drive folder ...

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B2lZ_MSsxSVkMm81dlBrZ21pTkk&usp=sharing

The contact info file is open to edit for anyone with the link, so if people add their e-mails and stuff, I can grant editing access to anyone here. I haven't done much translating yet. Got some weapon and armor descriptions in there, but I haven't checked to see exactly how long of a description fits, so, haha, those will need to be ... made more succinct or just to sound nicer in general, so it's not like any translation I've given is set in stone. ("Dry Wind Ring" sound silly, for instance. Not all translations need to be literal if it fits the theme, I think.)

All the events in the game can be gotten to again through Klonoa's House, so that's convenient. I did transcribe all the text from villagers I could get, 'cause some of those do change.

(Also, I'm like two weeks away from graduating from university if I don't do anything really dumb, and that's uh, a high-priority thing, so I won't be working too much on this for a little while longer.)

EDIT: Oh, welp, I had typed this up and only then saw that there's another thread already for the translation of the first stuff. Eheh, I'll look at that soonish, but I have some homework I've been procrastinating on that I need to get to ... (One of my other worst habits, not even wanting to think about homework when there's a lot to do and then spend a whole night awake thinking about how bad it would be to sleep without having done the homework instead of actually doing the homework. Anyway ...)

@Silvuh Glad to see you're back. In fact, I didn't make too much process in translation during your absence - only the script of Breezegale is finished. I often mistake a Japanese character for another one - like so and n(Katakana ones); na and wo(Hiragana ones). Plus my Japanese knowledge is self-taught, no lessons were ever taken. So I couldn't type fast (And, ouch, my arms hurt)

These difficulties make me wanna learn ARM assembly and try to export the script directly. Can you please focus at your homework for now while I'm dealing with all the low-level programming?

P.S. I lol'd after seeing your new avatar icon. Am I weird?

Good to see you're back! At the moment I'm taking the time to learn more about ARM assembly along with Meow Cat. That, and working on figuring out the ROM itself. It's big glob. It feels so unorganzied. :\

But hey, perhaps once you get school out of the way (after the exams) you could do the translations if you wish.

How far have you gotten in assembly? Actually it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Still quite a bit to learn on my part, though I'm contemplating on whether just letting you learn more about assembly whilst I try to figure out where exactly the scripts are located and what should and could be replaced in the ROM, or rather if I should stick to learning it and then get back at it.

Not so far. Learned some operations like ldr, str, add, mov; how stack works; branching and program status register.
Just go ahead and don't worry too much. Even the scripts are found, some works have to be done before we import the translated result into the ROM.
Ready for MOAR assembly? Here they come!

There is nothing to be afraid of. Programming is also a kind of art.

You can draw as long as you can grab a pen;
You can code as long as you can type the letters, too. :3
