Quote from: "Seen"Quick question about the translation: Is it gonna be with or without Japanese terms? I think it'd be better to localize terms like "Hikari Sakura" and honorifics instead of leaving them untouched. It'll look more professional that way.

Also, I love that logo.
"Hikari Sakura" - Hikari means "light" or "radiant", Sakura usually means ornamental cherry trees/blossoms.
So how about "radiant cherry"?
About the Japanese honorifics...should we discuss each of them individually?

@Megahog2014 It's not bad, but it could be more polished. Like the background seemed blurry.

sorry but the only image I found was only shown on a screen shot plus I can't find the one without the japanese logo
unless you found one :-/
I am me.... I do things differently from others.... I may see things in a way others don't.... I might be strange to others eyes... but to myself I am a normal person....

I was going to go with Light Blossom.

Also, Japanese honorifics are just that: Japanese. There's really no reason for such things to exist in a fantasy setting unless the fantasy setting actually takes place in Japan, or is specifically crafted to include some Japanese culture into it.

I never understood why they scenario writers add them in. I know it's because the game is made in Japan, and the Japanese would be more accustomed to it, but it still doesn't make sense in the game's universe. I'm not saying I hate it or don't want them to do it, however. That's not who I am. :)

Yes I have. It looks pretty good but I'm agreeing with the constructive criticism with the others. It's nice though.

Yes, we're translating everything to a level that even those who don't know lil to nil about Japanese phrase, customs, etc. can understand it. I want it to be more than a translation; I want it to be a Westernization of the game.

The good kind of Westernization, not the 4Kids kind, haha. I can definitely help with that, of course! Just say the word and I'll see what I can do. ;D

Well, the honorifics actually play a important role in Japanese. The scripts would be strange for the Japanese without those.
Implicature is another reason. By using the honorifics you can easily show your attitude or feelings to a particular person.

Westernization? What a great idea. Sounds difficult but I think I can help.

Well, that's true.

I guess I don't think that's a good enough method to convey emotions. Subtlety is fine and all, but sometimes it's best to flat-out tell people what you think and how you feel. Body language assists in this as well.

People just might want to hear what it is you have to say, instead of implying it. It can do a world of good to hear specific words.

That's what I think, at least.

OK, here's my translations to the in-game menu and its submenus.
Still, I need some opinions.
(I've made the mistake of incorrectly translating カスタムポイント as "status point". Sorry about that.)

カスタマイズ Customize

 キャラチャンジ Switch Character
 アクセサリそうび Equip Accessories
 もちものせいり Arrange Items

  ぶき Weapons
  ぼうぐ (Protective) Gears
  アクセサリ Accessories
  しょうひアイテム Consumables
  だいじなもの Event Items

 カスタムゲージせってい Allocate Custom Points

  カスタムポイント Custom Point
*Use Cust.Point when the abbreviation is needed

"Custom Point" is what it says literally but is a little odd. Can't use the succinct "Stat Points" because it would shorten to SP, which is already in use for Special (but it would be the most intuitive translation). "Attribute Points" is a little longer but also fitting.  As for カスタムゲージせってい, "Distribute AP" or another P abbreviation sounds nice.

For ぼうぐ, "gear" seems a little vague for things like shirts. I don't know the range of things that are being worn, if everything is more shirt-ish or if some seems like armor ...

Now this is just me being nitpicky, but when I think of an "accessory" in an RPG I think of something small that you wear for a stat boost. The accessories in this game are "badges" with pictures representing each stat. If that's all accessories are, I'd rather refer to them as AP Badges. Could also change the icons to make them look like badges someone might actually wear ... maybe use color coding. R/B/Y for AT/SP/AG, secondary colors for combinations. Dunno how much we want to change any graphics though ...

Need to actually play through the game more to add to context. Gonna have to be away this weekend though, so, I'll get back when I can...

what about ★P for star points? :P

SUPEREDITMADEAFTER2MINS: Somehow I saw STAR points and not STAT points, I'm blind. SUPEREDIT2: What about StP (with an S font that has a little t in sub or supscript like this StP or StP

Anyways I want to help in any way, tell me what to do and I will
