Is it just me, or do the PS1 version sprites look like character models. Cause they look 3-D on the last screenshot.

They're pre-rendered 3D models made into 2D sprites.I have to disagree with the theories that most people came up with on the first page.


I'm fairly certain that the King of Sorrow has a striking resemblance to Klonoa because the developers wanted them to look the same, but at the same time be the opposite of each other to create a contrast between the two.


Also, there's Dream Traveler of Noctis Sol (I'm not sure how canon it is, we'll have to wait and see about that).

I believe in the theory that Klonoa is a boy from the real world, and that his dreams represent the life he has had in this world. I'm sure Mr. Yoshisawa was reading about what dreams are while making the game, we can not dream of things we haven't been exposed to.

So that means Klonoa's friends are in fact imaginary friends: Lolo may have been based of a girl he met who was in love with klonoa, Popka was her dog, Leorina may have been a bully who in fact felt very depressed, King of Sorrow may have been a brother of Klonoa, and the pac-man on his hat means that he is a fan of Namco (or should I say he was?).

Nevertheless like with real dreams it all depends on your interpretation of the game. The first game tried to make you feel like you were Klonoa and the message in the end "Come back to your Phantomile" meant that you shouldn't always live in your dreams, that you have to go out there and face the real world.

I'm not to sure about that one personally but that is because I have have seen a lot of crazy in my sleep well into my early childhood.

Paranoia dreams as I would call them do sort of follow that but... ack to much unknowns

If the same thing happened to the Klonoa, that would be the end of me caring about the game. Sure it makes sense, but in all honesty, it would just feel like the developers pulled something out of their *** last second to avoid coming up with a reason for how the whole "dream traveling thing" works.

You would need to get into the producer's head for that most likely.

I guess it all comes down to if the ShiftyLook comic is considered canon or not.

I remember one of the admins saying that DToNS was canon unless specified otherwise, but if so, that kind of ruins the events of the other games.

Also, I'm sad that Sorrow didn't make a real appearance in the comic before it was canceled. I wanted to see what his reborn self was like.

"Klonoa is canon unless someone wants to retcon us later!" said Rob Pereyda, one of the SL admin.
I know retcon stands for "retroactive continuity". But what does "retcon us" actually mean? Connecting DToNS to the other games? If so, DToNS is surely uncanon.
