Klonoa is a dream traveler so maybe he travels to other worlds via dreaming yeah I know that sounded redundant as hell.
But think of it as a merged dream with others and Lunatea being the whole for that time.
So in yet another theory maybe the king of sorrow who is an essence took on a Klonoa like form as he called out to him to enter Lunatea help him.
I could have fleshed that theory out more but it would get confusing to explain unless you really want me too.
